OCO uses 8 sets of standards (National, State, University of California, NCAA, International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL), Western Association for Schools and Colleges (WASC), Quality Matters, and alignment with its acclaimed main campus of Oaks Christian in Westlake, CA).

Faculty

The Online Christian Consortium uses teachers that are hired and trained by Oaks Christian Online. The Online Christian Consortium faculty and staff are trained and developed by Oaks Christian Online School in Westlake Village, CA. See our accomplished staff below. Also, 87% of our gifted teachers have advanced degrees and all have an undergraduate degree in their teaching field and teaching experience in a Christian school, independent school or online school.

Staff

Teachers attend an online training and have access to monthly professional development. They participate in regular reviews and can attend live training on the Oaks Christian campus. The online school maintains high quality teachers by offering a rewarding, online teaching environment that includes non-rolling admissions, support for synchronous teaching time, and an emphasis on academic integrity.

The Online Christian Consortium staff are employed by Oaks Christian Online school and serve the consortium member schools from the Oaks Christian campus in Westlake Village, CA.

  • Director of Program and Curriculum, Christy Cleugh +

    Director of Program and Curriculum, Christy Cleugh Christy has been an educator since 1992 in both traditional and online schools in elementary through post-secondary settings. She recently earned her doctoral degree in Learning Technologies from Pepperdine University. She has been the Curriculum Development Director for the past 3 years and has two children that attend Oaks Christian School.
  • Director of College Counseling, Cyndy Locke +

    Director of College Counseling, Cyndy Locke Mrs. Locke has been a part of the Oaks Christian Counseling staff since 2003. Prior to coming to Oaks, she was a teacher and counselor at Western Christian High School for 8 years. Her previous work experience was as a youth and children's pastor in church ministry and with Youth for Christ. She is married, with two grown sons and 3 grandchildren. She see her role as college counselor as a facilitator to both students and parents not only in helping them reach their college aspirations but more importantly to fulfill God's calling to live a life of purpose.
  • Admissions Counselor and Media Manager, Brittany Lindsey +

    Admissions Counselor and Media Manager, Brittany Lindsey Mrs. Lindsey has worked at OCO since August 2012 as the admissions counselor and been working with high school students in various roles since 2006. Aiding students in the transition between their previous schools and OCO has become a great passion of hers and is something she has felt called to do. She also is involved with marketing, website development and student activities. In the fall of 2014 she started as our psychology teacher and has thoroughly enjoyed working with students in this capacity as this was her major in her undergraduate studies. When she is not teaching or moving students through the admissions process she loves spending her time at the beach with her family, watching and playing sports, and finding new restaurants to try.
  • Director of Spiritual Life, Samantha Farinacci +

    Director of Spiritual Life, Samantha Farinacci Samantha Farinacci has been working with youth in church and academic contexts for over 12 years. In her career she has taught in the English, Math, Social Science, and Theology departments with elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and adult aged students. Her deepest vocational passion is for helping students explore the possibilities that come from engaging with truth. With Christ's compelling call to love God and neighbor as her guide she hopes her courses and interactions with students help them to discover and anchor their identities in Him, even as they interpret the complex world around them.
  • Dean of Students, Dana Thompson +

    Dean of Students, Dana Thompson Dana Thompson has been involved in Education since 1991 when she started as an instrumental music teacher in Los Angeles Unified. Dana earned her supplementary teaching credential in Computers in Education in 1998 and has been writing curriculum and teaching various technology courses in public, virtual and blended programs for the past 15 years. Dana has a passion for students and for their success during and after high school. As technology keeps changing, Dana hopes that the skills she can bring to her students will enable them to master this digital world and be more successful in their endeavors once they leave her class.
  • eLearning Systems Operations Manager, Stephanie Pope +

    eLearning Systems Operations Manager, Stephanie Pope Mrs. Pope was born and raised in sunny California. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at California State University, Northridge in deaf studies and is currently working on her Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of San Diego. In the past eight years, she has taught in the public, private, and now independent school settings. She established the first American Sign Language program at a local high school and is currently writing an American Sign Language course for OCO which she will be teaching it in the fall. During the work day, she supports students through the help desk and ensures that our learning management system is operating efficiently for our OCO students and staff.
  • Registrar, Sarah Mena +

    Registrar, Sarah Mena Sarah graduated from Biola University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. After finishing college, she commissioned as an officer in the Air Force. She worked as an instructor, personnel officer, and executive officer. Sarah separated from the Air Force after five years and earned two Air Force Commendation medals. She then completed her master’s degree from Biola in Christian Apologetics. Sarah has been working as our student advisor and registrar since 2014.
